Analytics
We are passionate about health and social care in the NHS and pride ourselves in being able to meet even the most specific needs of our customers – from strategic delivery and analytics to clinical service re-design and cost improvement.
Our expertise
Attain’s analytics team specialises in delivering actionable healthcare data insights, combining industry knowledge with advanced technical expertise to uncover transformation opportunities.
Our experience spans key areas such as elective care, urgent care and workforce development, where we drive measurable improvements in patient outcomes. With expertise in analytic modelling, we develop sophisticated solutions that enable better predictions, trend analysis, and resource optimisation. Additionally, we create insightful dashboards using tools like Power BI, Power Query, and Microsoft SQL, ensuring informed decision-making and integration with existing systems.
With a track record of exceeding expectations, our contributions drive meaningful impact across diverse healthcare initiatives. With our strong NHS-system knowledge, an Attain analyst conveys findings in a meaningful way to have maximum impact.
Using data for intelligence
Our analytical scope is multifaceted and bespoke to need, encompassing a diverse range of criteria such as:
Demand and capacity modelling – we forecast referrals, assessment and treatment demand, caseload projections, and waiting list management, providing valuable insights for service planning and scenario testing.
Insights analysis – we identify risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities for productivity gains across the healthcare landscape, optimising patient pathway flow and system-wide performance. This analysis informs the development of structured frameworks for continuous improvement.
Collaboration with community health and social care services to comprehensively understand and articulate the primary challenges in managing patient flow and providing localised support within the community.
Developing and hosting ICS-level workforce dashboards (see below for some examples).
Undertaking population and demographic health analysis to drive multi-organisation decision making based on key geographic markers.
Facilitating data-led workshops, enabling conversations with clinical and operation leads to drive change within Trusts and systems alike.
Project management and analytic governance development.
Developing Azure Data Factory pipelines for secure data extraction, transformation, and production of client dashboards.
National coverage
Our work is national, covering England and Wales, with recent pieces running from Yorkshire to Devon and Norfolk to Gwent. We work with Trusts, ICSs, Local authorities, NHS England, and Welsh Health Boards, so our team is well versed in NHS structures nationwide.
Examples of our dashboard work
Alongside our tailored analytics and modelling services, we specialise in dashboard creation and offer the ability to integrate scenario modelling for enhanced interactivity. Below are a few examples showcasing some of our expertise in these areas.
Multi-system Endoscopy dashboard
What is it?
This dashboard was commissioned across three ICSs to deliver wide-ranging insights on endoscopy services for 13 acute providers.
What did we do?
We developed a comprehensive approach and data model that integrates multiple data sources, including ESR, pay ledgers, endoscopy estate details, weekly session schedules, and training capacity. By combining these with published DM01 performance data, we deliver an insights package angled towards productivity improvements.
What is the ROI?
This comprehensive endoscopy dashboard offers a clear, high-level overview of the ICSs’ capacity and performance, all within an intuitive interface. It serves as a powerful benchmarking tool for comparing endoscopy services across the three ICSs, analysing workforce skill mix, identifying training needs, and uncovering productivity variances.
Place Level Workforce dashboard
What is it?
We were commissioned by a Health and Care Partnership to develop a comprehensive baseline dashboard of their workforce across health and social care.
What did we do?
We organised and enacted an Information Sharing Agreement across multiple organisations, covering Local Authorities and NHS providers. Then worked with each organisation to establish regular extracts and developed the dashboard taking into account nuances, important insights and considerations.
What is the ROI for the Partnership?
This has enabled leaders across the Partnership to gain regular insights into their workforce and pay costs across the traditional organisational boundaries. This provides the ability to make data-driven decisions that optimise staffing levels and reduce unnecessary expenses. By automating data analysis and offering predictive insights, the Partnership can save significant time for administrative teams and supports proactive planning, ultimately improving operational efficiency and budget control.
Primary Care interactive Scenario Modelling
What is it?
This online tool combines workforce and estates across primary care, allowing the user to modify assumptions on current and future scenarios, giving them instant predictive results on their future workforce and capacity requirements.
What did we do?
Using advanced techniques and complex coding calculations we developed a web-based tool with a very simple to use front-end. The technology behind this tool can also be re-purposed for other scenario modelling functions, such as demand and capacity for diagnostics or elective care.
What is the ROI?
It is enabling leaders across primary care schools, estates and GP partners to develop informed plans for new GP learners and the impact on estate allowing for data-driven predictive answers for user-defined demand and capacity scenarios.
