Attain was commissioned by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) to support the successful implementation of HIVE, MFT’s new Epic Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system, the largest digital transformation programme of its kind within the NHS.

Working closely with MFT, Epic and wider system partners, Attain provided programme leadership and change management expertise across 10 hospitals to deliver a safe, effective and highly successful go-live.

What We did

  • Led the development of transformation modules and clinical pathways

  • Facilitated change and benefit realisation workshops across clinical and operational teams (maternity, inpatient, day case, pharmacy, Transfer Centre, laboratories, imaging services)

  • Delivered workflow/pathway documentation and risk management processes

  • Embedded programme assurance, stakeholder engagement, and communication

  • Developed a single chemotherapy pathway across all sites, ensuring improved clinical efficiency and consistency of approach

  • During the go-Live event the team acted as floor walkers

  • Standardised outpatient appointment letters and SMS notifications

The go-live has been recognised internationally as “one of the smoothest ever achieved” and has established MFT as a leader in digital healthcare transformation.

Impacts

  • 9 modules supported with change management expertise

  • 10 hospitals – the largest NHS EPR deployment completed successfully

It is clear that MFT relied upon and benefitted greatly from this contribution and we really value the expertise, strong worth ethic and deep professionalism that Attain demonstrated throughout their period of time with us.
