Attain was engaged to conduct a comprehensive review of its contracts to identify and realise in-year savings opportunities. This collaboration focused on achieving immediate financial benefits while embedding sustainable commercial practices and strengthening supplier relationships to unlock savings, improve value for money, and enhance governance and commercial insight across key areas of non-pay expenditure.

What We did

We provided commercial expertise which helped to deliver:

  • Spend analysis and opportunity identification – systematic review of Trust expenditure to identify high-impact areas for efficiency and cost reduction.

  • Supplier engagement and negotiation – worked directly with suppliers to realise in-year savings through re-negotiation, rebates, and volume reductions.

  • Contract rationalisation and standardisation – streamlined overlapping agreements and aligned terms to reduce duplication and drive consistency.

  • VAT recovery and financial assurance – identified eligible VAT recovery opportunities and supported implementation to optimise financial performance.

  • Collaboration and relationship building – built strong working relationships with NHS colleagues to enable joint ownership of savings and ensure sustainable benefits.

This programme had a major positive impact on the Trust’s ability to meet its cost improvement plans.
