Attain was commissioned by Mid and South Essex ICB to manage the Primary Care Lloyd George Digitisation for the region:

  • The primary objective of the Lloyd George digitisation project in Mid and South Essex was to streamline and modernise patient record management across 153 GP practices.
  • By converting physical records into digital formats, we aimed to enhance accessibility, improve data security, and reduce storage costs. Additionally, we sought to facilitate easier information sharing among healthcare providers, thereby improving the overall efficiency and quality of patient care.
  • The project also included estimating ongoing costs for the Integrated Care Board (ICB) to ensure sustainability and continued support for digital records management.

What We did

  • To achieve our objectives, we collaborated closely with 153 GP practices and the specialised digitisation supplier. Our team worked with four primary care account managers to address practice managers' queries, ensuring a smooth transition to digital records.

  • We developed comprehensive communications and guidance materials to support practices throughout the digitisation process. This involved detailed planning and coordination to manage the logistics of record digitisation, maintaining clear and consistent communication with all stakeholders to address any concerns and provide ongoing support.

Outcomes

  • The digitisation of Lloyd George records across Mid and South Essex has had a significant positive impact on primary care operations. Practices have reported enhanced efficiency in accessing patient records, leading to improved patient care and streamlined workflows.

  • The reduction in physical storage needs has also resulted in cost savings and better utilisation of space within practices, increasing both clinical and administrative space.

  • By providing thorough guidance and support, we ensured a high adoption rate and satisfaction among GP practices. Moreover, our estimation of ongoing costs has equipped the ICB with the necessary financial foresight to sustain and expand digital record management initiatives.
