Attain was commissioned by Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICS to provide external support to enable strategic planning and development of the digital and analytical workforce across all organisations within the ICS. The work answered the following questions:

  • What is our digital workforce baseline?
  • What digital workforce do we need for the future?
  • What actions will we take to secure our future?

What We did

  • Undertook workforce analysis (baseline), describing the availability of the workforce and its characteristics.

  • Identified future workforce requirements, stand still position, and how digital strategies, and delivery plans will impact on future workforce requirements.

  • Described the gap, between the current and projected workforce need, and the phasing over five years.

  • Undertook action planning, identifying what are the opportunities to close the resource gap.

Outcomes

  • We delivered a Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICS Digital and Analytical Workforce Planning Report.

  • The report described a growth in demand for data, digital, and technology capabilities within the health and care workforce.

  • The report set out a series of workforce development opportunities across the themes of supply, upskilling and new roles, to help achieve the required staffing skills and levels.

  • Four cross-cutting enabling recommendations were described in the report to support delivery of the priorities, alongside a timeline for delivery of a prioritised list of workforce initiatives.
