Tell us a little bit about yourself

I have worked in the NHS in strategy, transformation, and performance for around 20 years. In 2023, I left the service and set up as an independent healthcare consultant. I’d collaborated with Attain colleagues whilst still within the NHS and when I became freelance, opportunities arose to work as an Associate, supporting acute providers in Devon, North London, and Hampshire.

How have your first 30 days been at Attain?

I couldn’t have wished for a more supportive and welcoming start. It is sometimes said that it is hard to define what makes a great organisational culture – but you know it when you see it. Everyone in the organisation is focused on delivering great value and sustainable solutions for our clients, and Attain have realised that the best way to make sure that this happens is to foster a truly supportive and collaborative working environment.

What attracted you to Attain?

I enjoyed the freedoms of working as an independent consultant, but I missed being part of a team. Having spent time working as an Associate with the company confirmed my first impression of Attain as being a great organisation to work with. So when the opportunity presented itself to become part of the company permanently, I jumped at the chance.

What’s the best thing about being employed with Attain?

I’ve already really enjoyed the variety of working in different parts of the country, supporting people to address their biggest strategic challenges. Experiencing a variety of healthcare systems gives you a perspective and insight into issues and imaginative solutions that it is difficult to get if you stay in one place for a long time.

What do you hope the future brings for you with Attain?

Whilst the founding principles of the NHS remain the same, the needs of the population are completely different, and UK healthcare is therefore in the process of changing radically. As well as responding to new levels and types of demand, the NHS can also significantly contribute to helping fix major problems in society – such as the levels of long-term worklessness following COVID, and pressures on social care. I’m really looking forward to helping healthcare systems and their partners find those solutions.
