SOCIAL IMPACT

Social impact is a foundation of the work that Attain delivers. Our approach to client engagement and how we use our resources to influence wider society is key to how we operate.

Environmental responsibility

As a low-carbon, knowledge-based organisation, we focus on reducing the environmental impact of how we operate and deliver services.

Social value and our people

Our people are our greatest asset, and we have an inclusive, supportive, and values-driven environment where individuals can thrive.

Responsible governance and ethical delivery

Strong governance and ethical decision-making are central to how we work with the NHS.

Embedding ESG in delivery

ESG is not a standalone programme at Attain, it is embedded in our delivery approach, our commercial models, and our culture.

Corporate social responsibility

Our carbon reduction planning and modern slavery statements outline the policies and procedures we have in place to ensure our responsibilities are met.

Our charitable support

Every year, the Attain team have the opportunity to nominate a charity for the company to support through a variety of fundraising activities.

We recognise the NHS’s ambition to reach Net Zero and the responsibility that all partners have in supporting this goal. As a low-carbon, knowledge-based organisation, we focus on reducing the environmental impact of how we operate and how we deliver services. Our commitments include:

  • A hybrid-delivery model, reducing travel-related emissions via Sustainable Travel Hierarchy
  • Promotion of public transport and electric vehicle use
  • IT equipment re-use and recycling
  • A formal carbon reduction plan, aligned to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050

We continuously review our ways of working to identify opportunities to further reduce environmental impact and support more sustainable delivery models for the NHS.

Our people are our greatest asset, and we have an inclusive, supportive, and values-driven environment where individuals can thrive. We focus on:

  • Staff wellbeing and flexibility, supporting sustainable careers and high-quality delivery
  • Volunteering and charitable activity, led by our people and values team
  • Inclusive recruitment and development, building a workforce that reflects the communities we serve
  • Capability transfer, leaving NHS organisations stronger, more confident and more resilient after every project

Through our delivery model, we actively support NHS teams to develop skills, confidence and leadership capability, preserving system memory and reducing reliance on short-term or interim solutions.

Strong governance and ethical decision-making are central to how we work with the NHS. We are committed to:

  • Transparency and integrity in our advice, delivery, data, and recommendations
  • Responsible commercial models, including a capped profit margin, ensuring value for money for the public purse
  • Clear accountability for delivery and outcomes, not just advice
  • High standards of information governance, assurance and risk management

Our governance approach reflects the standards we expect of ourselves and those required by NHS Boards and regulators.

ESG is not a standalone programme at Attain, it is embedded in our delivery approach, our commercial models, and our culture.

Chris Spark, Director, is Attain’s executive sponsor for Net Zero and Social Value, championing sustainability and ethical practice across our organisation and client work.

We continue to evolve our ESG strategy in partnership with our clients, our people and our supply chain, ensuring our work delivers long-term value for patients, communities and the NHS.

Every year, the Attain team have the opportunity to nominate a charity for the company to support through a variety of fundraising activities. For 2026, we voted for Sue Ryder, a charity that helps make sure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can get the support they need so that no one has to face dying or grief alone.
