Sophia Malik reflects on her first 30 days at Attain

Tell us a little bit about yourself

I have spent my career working in health, both for and with NHS organisations. Most recently I worked for a Clinical Commissioning Group where I led significant transformation around community services and planned care. I also have gained experience in the commissioning of integrated models of care and mental health services. Prior to this I worked for an academic health science network, supporting the child health, neonatal and cancer workstreams. I have been fortunate to have worked for organisations where collaboration and partnership working have been at the centre of delivery.

I joined Attain at the end of November to have the opportunity to support organisations across the country, to experience the challenges in other healthcare economies and support the system to seek innovative solutions to sustainability.

How have your first 30 days been at Attain?

The first 30 days at Attain have been great. I was fortunate to join just before a team away day where I was able to meet team members and get a great introduction to the company and hear about the team’s fantastic work.

I have been very fortunate to have spent time over the first 30 days with great and supportive people and I am looking forward to working together to support delivery.

What attracted you to Attain?

Working in partnership to support transformation and ensure there is added value through this work was what really made me want to work for the organisation. It was clear throughout the process that the team were supportive, to both each other and clients, and the passion for improving healthcare was clear.

What’s the best thing about being employed with Attain?

The best thing is the team. I honestly have been made to feel so welcome and supported. Any questions, however small or large, are welcomed by any team member and you are made to feel comfortable and confident throughout. It is clear to see the team are very experienced, but as well as that everyone is always willing to help, no matter how busy.

The expertise and the opportunity to learn from my peers is something I am really looking forward to; the wealth of knowledge and experience teamed with such a supportive nature makes me feel very lucky to be a member of the team.

What do you hope the future brings for you with Attain?

I hope to be able to support the team and Attain to add value back into the system, while working closely with clients to deliver programmes of work which have innovative solutions and support system recovery and sustainability.
