Project Description

System-wide Paediatric Specialised Services Review

North West London

Attain worked with Chelsea & Westminster, Royal Brompton & Harefield and Imperial College hospitals to facilitate and design a model of care, develop a business case and support engagement with wider partners.

As part of this, we;

  • Developed a map of specialised paediatric provision in primary to tertiary care in north west London

  • Developed a model of care options for specialised paediatric service provision, the case for change, the implementation plan and financial model

What we did

We provided the following support:

  • Co-designed clinical and operational service models with 25 key stakeholders, clinical professionals, finance staff and Trust Board members

  • Reviewed 30 specialised paediatric services: 3 different paediatric critical care units and 150 acute paediatric hospital beds

Our impact

Our results included;

  • Provided cost savings of c.40% by Year 2 of 3-year transformation plan to deliver a single service

  • Provided understanding of how to optimise service provision, including relocation, consolidation or transformation of individual services

  • Improved patient experience through standardised streamlined pathways and more services on one site and consolidation and strengthening of small activity services
