Marie Dunn on her first 30 days at Attain

Back to 30 days

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

Prior to joining Attain, I have spent 20 years working within HR functions of financial and professional services sectors.  16 years of this has been spent working for a top 20 accountancy practice.  I have a generalist HR background, but have spent the last two years focusing on culture and employee engagement, and associated change initiatives.  I am a Chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).

In my spare time, I am also a volunteer supporter for Pregnancy Sickness Support (PSS), a UK charity working to improve care for women suffering with the severe pregnancy condition, Hyperemesis Gravidarum.

How have your first 30 days been at Attain?

30 days has passed by so quickly!  Before joining I was invited to the company meeting, which meant I got to meet my new colleagues in advance of my first day and hear about the great work that Attain does.  I have received such a strong welcome into the company and felt fully supported throughout the induction phase.

What attracted you to Attain?

Initially I was attracted by Attain’s strong value set which aligns very closely with my own set of values. It was clear from the outset that the company is a values driven business.  I also found that everyone I met and spoke to during the recruitment process lives by those values, were driven, fully engaged and clearly enjoyed working for the company. All this has been reaffirmed during my first 30 days.

What’s the best thing about being employed with Attain?

The people and the supportive working culture.  I do not have an NHS or healthcare background, and I have been so grateful for the time people around the company have taken to talk me through and explain their roles (and the acronyms!). This in turn has helped me feel fully integrated into the business at such an early stage.  It is a real pleasure to work with such a strong team who are clearly passionate about their jobs and delivering change, and I have learnt a lot from them in such a short space of time.

What do you hope the future brings for you with Attain?

Having worked in accountancy and financial services for many years, I am hoping to broaden my knowledge and skillset in a completely different sector.  I am also hoping that my experience will add value to the People Team and build on the strong reputation that they already have.
