Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I’m a healthcare professional and my specialist areas are Urgent & Emergency care and complex programme and bid management, growing high performing teams. I have a broad range of experience in many other areas of healthcare from Forensics to Primary care. I’m quite a creative, and this helps massively in thinking through complex pathways and presenting information in an accessible manner.
Outside of work I have quite a varied social life. I am singer in Birmingham’s LGBT+ choir, and have recently been elected chair to help grow the choir as we enter our 25th year. I regularly attend quiz nights and am quite active in a number of groups supporting LGBT+ people in Birmingham. I also love to travel, cook, read and attend sports events.
How have your first 30 days been at Attain?
They have been great! It’s been varied and i’m getting involved with a number of projects. All the staff have been really supportive. It’s usually difficult to be the newbie, but this has been a refreshing experience. I’ve had regular contact with my line manager and my ‘buddy’ (which all staff have to support their career path) which has been perfect. Some aspects of the culture have taken a little getting used to, especially the no emails and calls after 7 and at weekends! I’m used to being contactable almost 24/7, so the attention to wellness and work life balance is really great.
What attracted you to Attain?
The role and the company ethos, as described on the website. It felt like it would be a good fit. During the interview process, it did appear that team members are living the values, and that has been very evident since I started. As they quite closely match my own, it’s been a great fit and importantly a good experience so far. I have no doubt that this will continue.
What’s the best thing about being employed with Attain?
The level of collaboration and mutual respect. Everyone is an equal and treated as a professional. You’re not just the newbie, but a valued member of the team. I’ve worked on a few mini projects since I started and if I’ve needed help or guidance, it’s a simple email or a phone call away.
Equally, I have a had a few requests from others for input into what they are working on so I’ve really felt that I am adding value from the start. Now I’m on my first project and the fit for my skill sets is amazing. Attain lets you grow and do your best work.
What do you hope the future brings for you with Attain?
The future looks promising with challenging projects, learning and development. Attain is certainly somewhere I want to continue working. I already feel like I’ve been here a long time (in a good way!).
