Charlotte Lawson on her 30 days at Attain

Back to 30 days

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

I have over 20 years NHS experience, working in a variety of performance management and commissioning roles across numerous organisations.  Immediately prior to joining Attain, I was part of a CCG Locality Team working closely with the GP Federation to establish the new Primary Care Networks.

How have your first 30 days been at Attain?

Ahead of starting at Attain, I was invited to join the annual Summer training away day, which was a brilliant opportunity to meet the wider team and get their insights on working for the company as well as get to know everyone in a more informal setting.

My induction was well planned and gave me the opportunity to meet colleagues working on a variety of projects. After completing the induction, I started my first project with support from the wider team. For this initial project I am working with key stakeholders, across an STP to develop plans for their future workforce, encouraging them to think differently about potential service models, and the associated workforce impact.

What attracted you to Attain?

Attain were recommended to me when I was an NHS Commissioner looking to find a partner to develop a general practice capacity modelling tool. Following that successful project when the opportunity came up to work for Attain, I had no hesitation.

What’s the best thing about being employed with Attain?

The company culture is great. Everyone has been positive and helpful. The wider team are available for support, and are keen to share their expertise. My line manager checks in with me regularly and I have been allocated a ‘Buddy’ for any additional support I might need. This is someone who is available to have an informal chat and offer general guidance. This has been a great help in getting to grips with my first role outside of the NHS.

What do you hope the future brings for you with Attain?

The opportunity to be involved in a wide variety of projects across a range of organisations, so that I can develop and share my skills and knowledge. I’m keen to  learn from new experiences which I will have on my career journey with Attain.
